About the Book
The hurricane scoured Bogue Banks down to sand and brick. The fort held. The island survived. Now the survivors have a month of water left, a single bridge they can still defend, and a decision they can't undo: the other bridge has to come down.

And late one night, a weak voice comes over the old hailing channel from Harkers Island, asking whether anyone on Bogue Banks is still alive.
Evan has spent his life fixing what breaks. This season he'll learn what can't be fixed, and what the island will do to keep its children fed.
