About the Book
Betrayal introduces Luke Garrison, a small-town police officer and Coast Guard reservist on North Carolina's Crystal Coast. His professional instincts tell him to pay attention to what does not fit. The difficulty is that recognizing something wrong does not tell him whom he can safely trust with it.
The story places the familiar routines of a coastal community beside a threat involving an island airstrip, county deputies, and a document bearing Luke's forged signature. What he witnesses and what the official record appears to show are no longer the same thing. For an officer whose credibility matters, that difference is more than a technical detail.
This first Cedar Shoals thriller centers on the pressure between duty and self-preservation. Luke has to establish what happened while facing the possibility that someone else is shaping the account before he can make himself heard. The tension comes from the distance between seeing the truth and being able to prove it.
